Gogol Bordello - Not a Crime To prove that I’m not mopey, this was the next song on our Living Room Dance Party playlist. The Dude is doing a toddler form of head-banging. And it is AWESOME.

Gogol Bordello - Not a Crime

To prove that I’m not mopey, this was the next song on our Living Room Dance Party playlist.  The Dude is doing a toddler form of head-banging.  And it is AWESOME.

Blue Skies - Noah and the Whale I’m anxious today. I’ve been thinking of how lucky I am to do this stay-at-home mom gig, and have the freedom to focus on just that while husband has to go out and be the breadwinner. That’s got to be insane, all that soul-crushing responsibility. On the flip-side, sometimes I feel like a spectator of my own destiny, trying to make the best of what the fates decide to toss my way. Also it’s raining. This song is just right today. PS. In reading this, it sounds like I’m depressed. I’m not, I’m in a remarkably cheerful mood.

Angels and Airwaves : Everything’s Magic Bring it on, Monday!! The sun is shining, A&A is playing andthere’s something wonderful about NOT being under 10 feet of snow… also, since the husband is off in Seattle, I put my sewing machine in the kitchen and I’ve been making and experimenting while the kids are playing together. Or just wrestling together. Whatever it is, they sound ridiculously happy about it and I am choosing to be happy about it, because it should be enjoyed. Since in about 4 minutes one of them is going to clock their head on the tile and the other is going to bite their own leg and hugs will be required to stop the screaming that has just taken a turn for the mad. I IS HAPPYS!!!!!!! (via)

NUTBOD (Houseboats of Kashmir Mix) - Benjamin Britten I know I have that high-and-mighty musician thing going, so I’m little torn about the fact that my all-time favorite album of EVER is Baz Luhrmann’s 1998 Something For Everybody. Yeah, Baz the film director, and his album of songs and remixes from him films to that date (no Moulin Rouge or Australia yet). Is that weird? Because seriously, it has EVERYTHING. A sitar, Doris Day, La Boheme, techno, swing, Gustav Holst. DUDE. This song is from his version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream which was AWESOME. I’ll be randomly posting tunes from this album while I’m on my mom’s computador and they are staring at me. You’re welcome.

via nothingsoundsbetter: “Sick of You” - Cake 2011 is here, and it brings with it a slew of releases that have me salivating with anticipation. One of the many is the upcoming Cake album, Showroom of Compassion, the first new album by Cake since 2004. Despite the extensive down-time and the incorporation of new ideas, this is vintage Cake. Listen and love as John McCrea sings about hate. - Tyler Hanan NEW CAKE!!!!!!! I need to dig out Mr. Mastadon Farm. Oh, and I did a killer version of Jolene back in the day. I saw them play in Dallas years ago and John threw a hissy fit because we weren’t cheering loud enough. It was exactly how I’d expect him to react.

(via findingjoyinthejourney) “Because of Your Faith,” by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. October General Conference, 2010. A portion of the talk: “My thanks to all you wonderful members of the Church—and legions of good people not of our faith—for proving every day of your life that the pure love of Christ ‘never faileth.’ No one of you is insignificant, in part because you make the gospel of Jesus Christ what it is—a living reminder of His grace and mercy, a private but powerful manifestation in small villages and large cities of the good He did and the life He gave bringing peace and salvation to other people. We are honored beyond expression to be counted one with you in such a sacred cause. As Jesus said to the Nephites, so say I today: ‘Because of your faith … , my joy is full. And when he had said these words, he wept.’” Click here to read the entire talk. This talk makes me weep. Daily. As in, I read it daily for a pick-me-up and I have never once read it without crying. So yes, I cry the good kind of tears at least once a day. I dare you to read it and not choke up. Elder Holland was definitely inspired to write this.

HEAR YE. I need to document the fact that I ran 3 miles and didn't feel like death.  So just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, I did...
